Limenaria was developed at the beginning of the 20th century due to the need of workers for the mines of iron ore exploited by the german company of Speindl and from the people coming from the medieval village of Kastro built on the mountain, almost in the center of the island. In 1922 after the destruction of Smyrne refugees ( Greeks living in Asia Minor ) arrived and this was the onset of new period for the town. Palataki up the hill over the sea was built by the german company for their office needs. At Limenaria we can find banks, post office, police station, tavernas, bars, cafes and shops. Buses and taxis will take to any place you like.
