Sivota

Review of Sivota

The village of Sivota took its name from the Naval Battle of Sivota (433 B.C.) between the cities of Corinthos and Corfu during the Peloponnesian War, as described by the ancient historian Thucydides (460 - 400 B.C.). Sivota is a scenic coastal village with rare natural beauty. It lies only 24 km south of Igoumenitsa, opposite Corfu. Its natural beauties attract a large number of visitors that are increasing significantly over recent years. A ferry boat connects Sivota with Paxi island. The beaches in the surronding area are numerous and fascinating and their clear waters are the ideal for swimming: Mikri and Megali Ammos, Pisina, Gallikos Molos, Zavia, Megalo Stafo. The Monastery of Agia Paraskevi, the ancient settlement of Vrachona' and the Lighthouse in the island of Mavro Oros, connected to Sivota by boat, are worth a visit.
